I agree that it wasn't about money or taking credit - what it was about was Morrison doing whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted to, regardless of whether that hurt or helped the people around him.

Manzarek is the guy who encouraged him to write, to practice, to get to the studio, to show up for performances.

If Manzarek hadn't taken that initiative, the band would have been a one-hit wonder.
