This shows one of the very best renditions of both the Canadian and American National Anthems. At a hockey game. In Vancouver. No mangling allowed.
Other than the fact that they were soul less butchering Commies, the Soviet National Anthem is pretty good.
La Marseillaise ain’t to shabby either.
Would you like me to post a complementary rendition by Roseanne Barr to reinforce my argument?
George Jones wrote a song ... those folks that pick the singers are more culpable than the Singers ... they obviously did not Vet their product...
George Jones is only applicable to this discussion because he was snubbed... but Alan Jackson made him Immortal.
I don’t know what business you are in... if I didn’t know (Vet)(he product that I was pumping and it turned out bad... my resume would have been out the door stamped and in the Mail with a Post Mark dated prior to the incident...
Just a couple observations

How interesting. About what year would that have been? Maybe it is on YouTube.
More than 10 years ago. I’ve told that story several times and many times had people say something like, “oh yea he also sang it at such and such event.” I’ve looked around on U-Tube but I never seem to be able to find anything there.
OK, thanks. After reading your description, I’d love to hear it!
I hope "America the Beautiful" never becomes our national anthem. It's a good patriotic song, but is at times cornball (alabaster cities?), and unlike our current National Anthem, it is too passive. "The Star-Spangled Banner" exhorts us to "conquer we must, for our cause, it is just." It even includes a Bible reference: "no refuge can save the hireling and slave" (see Job 7:2).
The second verse includes these lines:
"Through the storms shone the light of freedom, and the great Lenin has shown us the way. Stalin has raised us to obey the will of the masses. He has inspired us to work hard and perform heroic deeds."
The refrain concludes with:
Flag of the Soviets. Flag of the people.
Carry it from one victory to another.
Thanks to you for posting and Sarah for her sincere and great work in singing our U.S. Anthem. That was beautiful. Well done.

Best video ever filmed of a national anthem. Improved when you realize most of the actors and extras, even those playing the Germans, were refugees from the Nazis.
Best SB Anthem rendition....Tom Sullivan....SB X.
Funny. Though it is fair to point out that Louis XVI was actually one of the most decent human beings ever to sit a throne.
Which, admittedly, is not a particularly high mark.
George III was also a pretty good egg who got the very short end of the stick.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWDXE9Pbjic&feature=player_embedded And it has William Shatner!!!
I happen to like her Afterglow Live CD/DVD set a little better than Mirrorball. Yes, she’s a loony Lilith lib, but she is an amazing talent. And the live performance she does of “Possession” from Afterglow is just...it’s stunning. Not just the vocals, but her stage presence, and how hard and tight her band rocks out behind her.

Whenever I watch “Toy Story 2” when she sings “When She Loved Me”, I lose it every time.
