Vegas' Most Baffling Listing Boasts Underground 'Backyard'
Yahoo Homes ^ | 5/16/13 | Amy Schellenbaum

The home was built by Avon cosmetics executive Girard Henderson, who, in the late '60s, decided to construct an entire second home as underground nuclear fallout shelter "designed to withstand virtually any disaster and protect against almost any intruder," the L.A. Times reported in 1996, when the 16,936-square-foot manse was on the market for a whopping $8M. Perched beneath what was once a caretaker's house on gated property, the bunker has its own generator and fuel tank, and can supposedly sustain life for a year. There's even a guest cabana—because obviously people would visit you down there—and a grill outfitted to send smoke up and out through the trunk of a fake tree.

Oh, hell no they won't visit, if they've been out playing in the fallout!

And I wouldn't advise them to fire up the grill. If you do, the zombies will see where you are hiding.

I can smell BBQ from miles away. My hearing sucks, but if there isn't jets overhead or a strong wind, I can hear a twist of cap on a beer from 100 yards.

Then again, I'm used to running the woods and plains.
