LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Commuters across the Southland Thursday are being encouraged to ditch their cars in celebration of Bike to Work Day.
The event, which is a part of National Bike Week, is meant to celebrate the power of pedaling as an alternative means of transportation.
There will be free bike checks, drinks and snacks provided throughout several cities at special pit stops.
Those who use Metro as part of their ride to work will be able to take advantage of free rides on DASH and Commuter Express buses. They will also be entered into a contest to win a $700 cycling package from REI.
About 60 retailers will offer discounts to bikers Friday through Sunday.
For more information, visit Metros Bike Week LA.
Even the most enthusiastic rider will eventually return to the automobile.
Would it kill those guys to wear some other color than black?
We’re having our annual bike “do” in Boise right now.
I rode to work this morning, but I had to haul some stuff to the offie after lunch, so I went home and got my car.
I was PC and un-PC all in one day!
Fortunately, it coincides with “Bring a Can of Lysol to Work Week.”
Yes.
