This place isn’t just harmless. They are great stewards of the land and take care not to junk it up with shells and are very careful about sparingly use of motor craft as they manage the herds(or whatever a gaggle of oysters are called, maybe beds).

Humboldt Bay produces more oysters but, the waters have old oil and mining well by products that leak into the waters. Not an expert but, judging by the crud you can see right off the road and knowing it has to get into the waters, I just have to think that mother nature can only scrub so much.

There is nothing like that around Tomales Bay or Drakes Bay.

But...if I read the artile right, the gov’t is trying to force the Oyster farm out BECAUSE it is “pristine” and wants to preserve it’s unique nature.

???????????????

Odd thing about the Park Service.

Here in Tennessee there is an area called “Land Between the Lakes”, once named “Land Between The Rivers”

People who had farmed the land since pioneer days were forced off the land by TVA to make Barkley and Kentucky lake dams so to provide power.

But even the land between these two reservoirs but not needed for the backwater was seized by the Kennedy Ad. to create a "wildlife preserve".

To say the least these people were mad but the government promised them these lands would forever be kept as wilderness and never commercialized.

Long story short TVA tried to started to rent spaces to Commercial businesses like hotels and other touristy crap. TVA also hinted at selling lakefront properties.

The surviving families still in this area raised a big stink, TVA tried to shove responsibility upon the Park Service and these people howled even louder because the Park Service had a history of commercializing “protected” areas.

It is now at a standstill...
