We settled on Buffy the Dandelion Slayer for her name. She spent quite a bit of time attacking dandelions yesterday. Too funny. She could pounce and bat and bite all day. The dandelion would pop back up and she was back at it.

Our first shih tzu, Roxie, would tear into paper towels. She would rip and growl and throw them around. Then, when it was ripped to shreds, she would strut off as if she saved the world. Guests used to get a kick out of the show.

Just wait until all those other woman who want to do the same thing find out that obamacare won’t pay for a dime of it. And the BRCA1 gene is linked to a 65% chance of getting cancer, not 87% as the article says.

but the preventative mastectomy does reduce by 90% your chances of getting cancer. not going to argue over obamacare paying for it, or the BRCA gene odds, i am outraged that morons are #1 positing that it's a political gambit to deflect attention from Obama's scandals #2 acting like this is a ridiculous bit of self-mutilation, rather than an accepted course of action, medically speaking.

That thread has some of the most appalling and ignorant responses I’ve seen in awhile. Wanting to be alive and healthy for your kids-and being willing to do something difficult to get better odds isn’t a stunt.

A close friend of mine had a double mastectomy after having a small tumor removed-her mom and sister both died of breast cancer early on. My friend isn’t rich or famous, but she was alive to bring up her 2 kids, and is still alive and well, 15 years later.

I make no secret of considering many men self-centered and dishonest in their dealings with women, but I still think the more vitriolic male posters should imagine how it might feel to have to be emasculated in order to live...

i think that thread is full of people who know next to nothing about breast cancer, and lucky for them, i suppose, that they have not had to deal with it in a close friend or family member.

That is a hypothetical percentage they posted for reducing the odds. I think it’s silly they think she had the surgery and publicized it to protect obama. She watched her mother suffer and die from cancer, and probably didn’t want to have that happen to her and her family again. I have several friends who have had breast cancer. One had a marble sized tumor and had both breasts removed and reconstructed. She didn’t want to ever have to deal with that fear again. Another friend had a mom who had cancer on and off again from the time she was a child until a late teen. That’s when she died from it. Her mom had cancer and was fighting it the whole time she knew her. That is strong motivation to remove something you consider a time bomb.

My mom had breast cancer when she was 50. She won that battle but not the other cancer that got her at 56.

Oops! I almost forgot about my homework-

The train to scandalmania
Needs to have more steam
If it is to be effective
In trashing a covert scheme

No matter the temptation
To call the Nixonian game-
Its creators are poltroons
Who freak at a whispered name

Patience with the other loaded shoe-
Just watch that paranoia grow
As “Haldeman” or “Liddy” are whispered-
Then raise the curtain on the show...

Just my take, but if it were me, I’d let the anticipation and paranoia continue till the main players start to sweat and make mistakes, then let fly...

I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and a candle burning to St. Jude for that signing...

How is your doggie doing today?

My friend’s kids are both male, so she had no worries there. Both her husband and sons approve of the hard decision she made, and are grateful she alive and well.

People who don’t even understand the difference between a political stunt and familial devotion are lacking in human compassion and understanding, period-not to mention cruel and filled with hate...

So much perkier! He has an extensive array of meds and drops and needs something administered every 2 hrs but I have to wait 5 min. between each set of drops so it takes a good 15 min to get each series into him. It’s an all day affair medicating him. At least he gets the ointment at night and I get a 6 hr. break.

I saw that video on another thread, and the sound brought Midget girl and Titus racing from a window in the guest room to the desk in the kitchen to look for the intruder-Yeti boy and Husky girl were lounging near the desk-they just blinked, yawned and went back to their afternoon naps...
