This recent passage plus the morphing gif was discovered in a recently found book claimed to be written by Nostradamus.
Leaders of different eras of
a future global empire
More Dissimilar yet the same,
More Similar Than Different.
One speaks, stands from the left, black
as the evening sky.
His counterpart speaks from the right,
The color of snow, cold as ice, brilliant, bright, white.
Both speak with a the tongue of the serpent,
Who could hardly speak any differently, yet strangely
their actions, motives make them perfect dopplegangers
in their entwined fates.
'tis Brillig - re: the slithy toves.
Nixon was NOT a conservative. Noam Chomsky has described him as the last liberal President.
Any republican president you approve?
I didn't say Nixon was perfect. But think about, besides Reagan who was a better president in our lifetime. I agree with most of what you have said. The standard for conservative has been dropped.
My initial comments are that it is very unfair to compare Nixon to the present socialist muslim who is now ruining our country.
Indeed.
Reagan is the only president I can stand behind that deserves a spot on Rushmore in my entire lifetime.
Agreed.
Question was mostly directed to Orangedog.
Nixon had no idea how Blackmum would vote no more than W did with Roberts.
And wage and price controls.
Mostly legislative.... blame congress
And Kissinger.
Who knew Kissinger would be a sellout. Think about it.... Vietnam was a no-win situation at the time. As far as China, it was Nixon's worst move, and I stated that above.
“And wage and price controls.
Mostly legislative.... blame congress”
Though I was young at the time, I seem to remember it as an Executive Order.

“August 15, 1971. In a move widely applauded by the public and a fair number of (but by no means all) economists, President Nixon imposed wage and price controls. The 90 day freeze was unprecedented in peacetime, but such drastic measures were thought necessary. Inflation had been raging, exceeding 6% briefly in 1970 and persisting above 4% in 1971. By the prevailing historical standards, such inflation rates were thought to be completely intolerable.”
Now, if you can point to some bill that Congress was working on that would do something similar and would override a veto, there might be something. But no, I think this was pretty much Nixon himself.
It was Nixon who said, “We are all Keynesians now.”
Good find.... thanks, I was 13 at the time too. :)
But while you are checking, I do think there were a number of ill fated congressional initiatives of the same nature.
Reagan and Ike were okay. I was a kid when Reagan was in office so I guess I’m a bit nostalgic for the simpler days when our only fear was that the ruskies were going to nuke us while we were asleep at night. Aside from those two I don’t have anything good to say about the others.
Compare...?! Hell, I'm looking for some contrast and not seeing a whole lot. Other than maybe nixon not having drones and God knows what watergate would have been like if he would have had the patriot act and DHS at the disposal of his staff. Not that nixon's white house did anything that any other white house didn't do. They just happened to get caught.
Occasionally, when writing about an unusual subject, I will weave, intertwine the subject in a way that is so bizarre, surreal on a lark as to be veritably impossible to be true, that I intend to be humorous and amusing and specifically omit including the "sarcasm off" tag, that adds to its comedic intentions, and which most people realizing it's all a big joke. For example, the story is impossible to be true because there were no gifs in Nostradamus' era over hundreds of years ago, which is a tip-off that the story is pure fantasy which adds to the comedic intent and amusement.
I apologize for misleading you by making the post appear genuine as the entire post was conjured up simply to showcase the Nixon-Obama morphing image.
This is not the first time I've had FReepers question the credibility of my more ridiculous posts.
So, as to avoid any more confusion to my fellow FReepers, I will not make any sarcastic comments without concluding the post with the sarcasm off tag.
Please accept my sincerest apology for having taken a practical joke too far and having unintentionally misled you the way I did.
