So, my son and I will have a 5-day bonding experience and we will drive the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to Carmel and back in a pristine (red, of course) 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV-6/2.5.
I welcome your suggestions for some good driving music for the trip.
Thanks!
GREAT call on Meat Loaf.
I've got a couple more, too:
Sawyer Brown version of "Six Days on the Road (and I'm a-gonna make it home tonight", and
Bob Seger with "Old Time Rock n Roll", plus his version of "It Goes to show ya Never Can Tell -- (C'es la Vie)"
Or the floor safe to keep those .22s tucked away...
Great call on that one; Gene Krupa shreds it.
Another one I love for its drum solo is one no one probably ever hears:
Gypsy (a Minneapolis hippie band from 1971 featuring the short-lived genius, Enrico Rosenbaum) -- "Tomorrow is the Last to be Heard"

The drum piece goes for a whole minute at the 3:40 mark (in case you would not like to listen to the whole 7 minute cut.
“Anything from the Doobie Brother that doesnt feature Michael McDonald singing lead”
HAHAHAHA
My son once gave me a Michael McDonald Christmas CD as a gag gift.
I may have to repay the kindness....
You must be confusing Alfas with Porsches.
DeDion rear suspension with inboard brakes and a rear transaxle. Front suspension is torsion bar.
Close.
When we shipped the car out my son, we took the opportunity to load the trunk with some of his heavier stuff.
Especially "Neal's Fandango."

Don’t forget Red Barschetta from Rush, or if you prefer, Dream Theater.
YMMV
That's actually from 1972. Here's the origninal
Hot Rod Lincoln--Charlie Ryan & the Livingston Brothers (1955)
Red Barchetta is great:

BUT - my first thought was for Dreamline (also by Rush):

We are only immortal for a limited time”
And for a change of pace, perhaps one of my old favorites:
Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers:

“Subdivisions” has a good driving beat. And it mentions back seats.
I did not know that.
And the whole idea of getting out of mundane Suburbia! My two young teen daughters and I went on a road trip last summer to visit relatives. It was on a whim. Told them on a Thursday, and Friday morning we headed east for 2000 miles. That even made it more special; no planning - just get in the BMW with the top down and go! (Well - it really was a minivan, but the sense of freedom and adventure was still there!)
X-15--Johnny Bond (1960)
Anything by Patsy Cline. BEST female singer ever.
When I drove to Alaska I bought some of those audio book novels. Actually helped keeping me awake.
