My German Shepherds were jumped by two Great Danes last month. They were not hurt and the neighbors were sincere in their apologies but I do not walk my dogs without protection anymore (light hammer and stun gun).

Buy and carry a can of Bear Spray. Sabre brand is fine and it comes with a belt holster.
