AA’s primary purpose is to members from drinking. Currently gay meetings are held separate from the main group. Their meetings are identified as gay meetings and often times closed to others. There are Christian meetings as well.

AA doesn’t endorse other groups and so far there isn’t a gay agenda at the open meetings.

Gays have lots of problems, and they appear to be much more prone to substance abuse. AA is the best thing for keeping sober and gays benefit from the program like everybody else.

The only concern is that gays will become more vocal and turn the entire organization into a gay support group. They could destroy AA as easily as they have destroyed other institutions such as the Catholic Church, marriage and soon the Boy Scouts.

Not in my area - there are no particular meetings for gay people - everyone attends the same meetings. There are men’s meetings and women’s meetings, but no gay meetings that I am aware of.

There are MANY gay AA meetings. Not many Christians ones.

I once tried to start a Christian AA meeting in the Inland Empire of Southern California, and was told “we dont want Christ mentioned at meetings”. They wouldn’t allow the meeting to be published in the directory.

If it was a Gay AA meeting, I wouldn’t have had a problem.

That is reality and truth.

Heck - they also have atheist meetings for those who want to try it sans-God. I have no problem because it still gives folks a chance to experience His love and to maybe reconsider...

I used to worry about the "purity" of AA being compromised to the point it was destroyed. Came to the conclusion that if God is in it, it cannot be destroyed. if God is excluded, it cannot stand. I leave it in His hands.

Let them start Gay AA if they feel the need to separate themselves from the main group.

Injured other institutions. The Catholic Church isn’t destroyed, and nothing can destroy marriage no matter what impossibility the state recognizes as marriage. The state doesn’t define marriage.
