What kind of Indian objects to a team name that depicts Indians as warriors? A member of the Metrosexual tribe?
They’re pulling the same nonsense over the Atlanta Braves.
So its not derogatory ‘redskins’ reference. They just want to make noise and exert some political pressure.
Sort of ‘see me, see me’ whining.
What about the Fla. State Seminoles? Ever see their display before a home game?
An Indian brave rides onto the field on a paint horse, takes a spear and slams in into the ground in front of the opposing bench.
IMHO one of the best, exciting pre-game displays ever.
IIRC, the chief of the Seminole nation has warned the PC crowd not to criticize “our team”, Florida State.
Look up Dartmouth University “Indians” hockey team as an example of PC, 1980’s era.
I’m still p.o.’d we’re called CATHOLICS - we’re just universal Christians labelled by protestantism so they could point at us and not use a cussword (damn prudes).
That held water in Germany during 1946 as well.
Check out this link: Power ranking the 25 best mascots in college football
Chief Osceola and Renegade are NUMBER ONE!!
For years I thought that Daniel Snyder was a total jerk...he'd ruined the Redskins with his constant meddling..RG III has turned the team around, and now, with his solid stance on keeping the Redskin s name, all but telling libtards to "go p**s up a rope,"..I gotta give the guy props.
I do think that the ever-so PC NFL and Goodell will ultimately force him to change the name..
I just may have to root for the Redskins this year to show my support. (Because, lets face it, the Jets aren’t going anywhere #sameoldjets.)
I never thought I'd root for them, but I'm an RGIII fan.
Looks like the opposing teams are going after him like they did Joe Namath.
what about the Chiefs? Aren’t the names Rams and Packers offensive to the Dupont Circle crowd? Isn’t the name Patriots offensive to democrats since they hate America? Aren’t the Jets just offensive to every fan of the game of football?
Between this news and the admirable RG3, I may have to become a Redskins fan.
It was thinking the Washington Foreskins....punch of pricks in that part of the country.
You have to search far and wide to find the word “redskins” used in 18th and 19th Century documents. The word really used by settlers at the time was “redn#**@rs.”
I always call the Dallas Cowboys the Cowgirls.. the San Diego Padres the Madres... the Diamondbacks the D-bags.. etc...
You hadn’t heard of all those Scandinavians in the Upper Midwest protesting loudly about the MN Vikings?
Oh, right, they don’t.
The whole thing in manufactured Lib outrage.
