LYNN A fight over funeral arrangements for an ex-boyfriend who died in a car accident led to a hostage situation and $1,000 cash bail for a man charged with kidnapping, according to court documents.
In a report on the incident, Lynn Police Officer John Clem wrote that the alleged victim was going to meet with the mother of Sonny Santiago on Monday morning to attend to his funeral details. Santiago died Saturday from injuries suffered when the car he was driving collided with a landscaping company truck on Essex Street.
The victim told police her intended involvement in the funeral arrangements upset the defendant, identified as Star Allen Johnson, 21, of 9 Landers St., whom she said repeatedly ordered her not to go.
When the victim went to leave the apartment, the defendant physically blocked her from leaving and held her by the arms, preventing her from moving, Clems report states.
Police reported going to the Landers Street address at 8:08 a.m. Monday on reports of a possible hostage situation, possibly involving a gun, according to Lynn Police Officer Michael Crosby.

There is a well-known verse in the area:
Lynn, Lynn,
The City of Sin
You never come out
The way you went in.
About 20 years ago, the Mayor of Lynn tried to change the image. So he plastered Billboards all over town that said:
“LYNN, LYNN, CITY OF PRIDE.”
I had a gig in Lynn and The Mayor was a guest. He asked me what I thought of the Billboards, and I said,
“Pride is a SIN! In fact it’s one of the SEVEN DEADLY SINS!”
Hizzonah was NOT amused.
There is a tombstone in an old cemetary in Houston that cracked me up but I don’t think anyone meant to be funny.
It is a very large stone with only one word on it, the family last name, no first names no date just ......................
