I did 160 in a rented Dodge Magnum on a business trip to London Canada in 2009. There was still plenty of speed left in the Dodge but I got nervous and backed off. I even took a picture on my phone to prove it. My buddy had a good laugh when I showed him the picture. Turns out I was doing 160 KPH which is only about 99MPH.
Back when my brother worked for GM in Detroit, they provided pool cars for business trips. If you were going to, say, Toronto, they’d give you one with a kph speedo.
One time, he and a co-worker headed to Canada on business but were complaining just how much of a dog the car was; couldn’t seem to get it much over 120.
Only when they noticed just how fast they got to their destination did it occur to them that they were actually driving with a MPH-calibrated speedo and had been travelling at well over 100+ for like 1-1/2 hours.
They were lucky - and fortunate that the GM POS they were driving actually withstood the abuse.
