While I don't prescribe to conspiracy theories, there is a certain morbid, economic logic to offing once popular stars

Heck, Elvis made more money dead than he did when he was alive(IIRC)

Michael Jackson's records were near non existent when he died.

The added Plus is dead stars are easier to manage.....
