I agree. I slip up and use cards out of convenience but I need to quit doing that. Also the cards that stores make you use to get sales, etc. track your every purchase and they have been used in law enforcement.
I have been using the same grocery reward card for almost 12 years now in Texas. My mom who died almost 11 years ago applied for it when she was visiting me one time and joined me at the grocery store. Said she wanted to get one to serve as an example of how to be save some money. She used her Rural Route address in Missouri and knew she had to fill in a local phone number, didn’t have one so just made one up. She did use her true birthday though and, if living, would be 105 now.
I lost the card long ago but did remember the phone number and so just give it to the clerk when I shop there so still get my discounts. Even though I always pay cash for my purchases, I have occasionally thought about calling that phone number to find out who it really belongs to but haven’t.
I have never used any form of debit card when it comes to groceries. ALL CASH.
Just got sick of all these idiots who hold up the line and they could not even remember their PIN and even could not swipe their card the right way.
