First off never watch secular TV to see the Truth about anything that has to do with Christianity. Second you need to get out more.

I've fairly regularly attended Baptist churches at different times in my life and never met anyone or heard any preaching that compares to the West Burro Cult group.
It's quite a stretch to claim that theirs is typical Baptist preaching.
Southern Baptists maybe the the ones in my area, oh yea. I have no clue what kind of Baptists they are. I can tell you this, when Westboro came to Charleston WV the Baptist around here were front and center to try and get rid of them.
I saw them on youtube. Just go on and type “westboro” and you’ll find them, thousands of them.
Now I am not talking about when they are being idiots on the street I am talking about when they are actually in their church. I have seen baptist preachers like that.

I am a Christian that happens to have been raised Southern Baptist. We do NOT go around talking like those goons. We teach about Gods LOVE for everyone and His forgiveness of sins. I find beauty in Christ’s love. Do you truly know any Baptists? Wesrboro is a cult and not Baptist.

As for southern baptist I don’t think westboro considers itself Southern baptist.
I am just stating that from what I have seen of them in church it resembles a lot of West Virginian baptist chruchs. Only here they don’t go around screaming “God hates Fags”.
A church doesn't have to affiliate with a conference like the Southern Baptists for them to be a Baptist Church. Basically anyone can be a Baptist Church that wants to so long as they claim to follow the core beliefs.

I’ve read that the Westboro bunch has dropped the word “Baptist” from their name, they were never Baptist to begin with.
I’ve been in a lot of Baptist churches in my life time, though admittedly, none in W. Virginia. I’ve never heard hate preached in any way,ever.

I was a baptist. Yes I know them. I wish I did not. They are down right mean people for the most part.

I ran out of the baptist church I attended when I turned 18 like the building was on fire and never looked back so what does that tell you?

I have actually worked with one such Baptist as Morgana described.
That was before I was a Christian. He did preach the gospel and partially through that I came to Christ. But I didn’t like him any better after I became a Christian.
Nobody else I worked worked with liked him either, nor trusted him. He was called a hypocrite by more than one non-Christian. I couldn’t disagree with them.
But that is ONE out of all the Baptists I’ve ever met over my lifetime.
I’m sure if Mo would be honest not every Baptist he knows is that way just like not every mermaid he knows is not the same.
Or just like every Catholic I had the displeasure of growing up and working with was not the same. There were exceptions, but for the most part, her experience with Baptists was mine with Catholics and Catholicism.
I left the Catholic church at a slightly younger age than she. I did try returning when I first met Christ and got saved, but nothing had changed so I found another church and never looked back.
Satan gets his greatest mileage out of those who name the name of Christ and act like the Phelps clan. More so than someone who is outright evil.
Anyone outright evil can be seen for what they are. Anyone like the Phelps clan who clothes themselves in enough religiosity can and will smear the name of Christ worse than anything else.
He will answer for it. Something about taking the Lord's name in vain, and I don't think that refers to swearing. I think it means claiming to be a believer and not living it so as to besmirch God's name.
I'm thinking that if you're going to lead an outright sinful life, that God would rather you didn't claim to be a believer at all, than to claim it and not live it. Lip service does no good.
