NDIANAPOLIS For the 12th time, a Corvette will pace the field for the Indianapolis 500.
Race officials revealed Thursday that the 2014 Corvette Stingray will serve as the official pace car for the 97th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
The seventh-generation car differs from the production models with track-mandated safety features and strobe lights. Chevrolet said the cars powertrain will be able to pace the field without any upgrades thanks to its new 6.2L LT1 engine.

Nice looking car, even if most of us here wouldn't buy one now.
Not the Volt?
*snicker*
Ever since GM was nationalized, my automotive object of lust (at least among American-made cars) is now a Boss 302 instead of a Corvette. The Vette’s still a pretty cool car, though.
LOL!
I bought one when I returned from Viet Nam in 1970. I paid $5,285.00 in cash. I bet this new one is a bit more expensive. What do you think. I know.....I know...I think the same thing often. Wish I still had the red 1970 rag top vet. :-(
Love the front end. Seems to go on forever - like it should be with a Vette. Eff gm though.
She’s a beauty, but no matter how good she is the guys on BBC’s Top Gear will still rip her a new one.
I dunno.... I remember Clarkson’s comparo of the ZL1 versus an Audi R8 V10 and it seems to me that while he thought the Audi was a better car (not to mention faster around their test track), he also thought the ZL1 was LOADS more fun to drive.
I'm kinda' looking forward to wearing my Chevrolet Manchester United jersey next year (but I'm replacing the one sponsored by AIG).
They even built the V16 that GM almost used in a Cadillac.

Well, I think that if you run the numbers and adjust for 43 years of inflation, especially the Jimmy Carter era, you will find that the new vette may be a bit less expensive. Even though it has a bunch more bells and whistles. It’s kinda like “I remember 25 cent gas back in the 60’s”. But, I also remember working for about $1.00 per hour back in the day. Just saying :)
I’ve owned 3, but now drive a Honda.
eets a rubbish kah!
Of course, finding good gas even in 69-70 was sometimes tricky with that beast.
Looks a lot like a Cormaro. I still will only buy Ford - the ONLY true American car company. The new Mustang would be better choice!
Beautiful! and I will be buying one! So far, Government Motors hasn’t screwed up the Corvette!!But give them time, and they will destroy it as well!
Coulda sworn it was a Camaro from this angle.
