Daily Mail headline writer made the mistake. It should be meters but they wrote feet.

I’ve lived above 7K feet. I’ve never seen 7K meters other than in an airplane.

Climbers have to get a climb permit which I believe costs around $25,000-$30,000 US dollars. I doubt if these guys will be getting a refund.
