Why pray tell are we giving tax dollars to universities that have more money in their endowment funds than we have in the U.S. Treasury?
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory honestly has very little to do with Johns Hopkins - it's nowhere near JHU's campus, and the employees are basically just people there that do defense research and analysis, and don't teach classes or anything. It's basically a government defense lab with a tenuous relationship with JHU itself.
Much of the $ goes to defense-related projects and medical research. The rest goes to studies of how “community organizers” (whatever they are) can hide their true identities and bathhouse lovers using modern stealth technology, expensive lawyers, propaganda, and/or other means. We hear there’s been a major shift to this latter vital area of research in recent years. So you see, all this spending is for your own good, or somebody’s.
