In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
plethoric \ple-THAWR-ik, -THOR-, PLETH-uh-rik\ , adjective
1. overfull; turgid; inflated: a plethoric, pompous speech.
2. of, pertaining to, or characterized by plethora.
Example sentences:
He is a plethoric sleeper: literally a sleeper having an excess of red corpuscles in the blood (the opposite of anaemic), suggesting "unhealthy repletion", but here a "heavy" sleeper.
-- Arthur Conan Doyle, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, 1903
And I did these things, not that I was an egotist, not that I was impervious to the critical glances of my fellows, but because of a certain hogskin belt, plethoric and sweat-bewrinkled, which buckled next the skin above the hips.
-- Jack London, "The Dignity of Dollars," Revolution and Other Essays, 1900
Etymology:
Plethoric came to English in the late 1300s from the Greek plethore meaning "fullness."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Neaner, neaner.
I’m six hours closer to Friday than you are. .....
Okay. A+ for you. I have a work evaluation today which is meaningless since none of us will get a raise.
It could also be Lindsey Graham. A for you.
No frost here. We are getting buds on the trees now and folks are planting flowers. Finally, I believe spring has come.
Oh, everything is getting verdant, but I would only plant hardy stuff now. Mid-May is the typical last frost.
Just have to cover them if there is a frost predicted.
The next revolution will be more French.
Guillotines and what not.
verdant here, too.....all except the spot by the steps that Missy used repeatedly...when she could still get out....still miss her.
I had gone all winter without getting a cold until now. Since we had some snow flurries and even some ice near the highways, causing lots of traffic fun today, I guess I can still call it winter.
I’ve got one of those spots, too. From River, not from me. ;-)
well that’s a relief.
It is 54 and cloudy-hope it stays that way. I got enough work over the last couple of days to make a little money for the first time in awhile, thank You, God.
This economy has just about destroyed rural small communities-we need to hand a pink slip to the US CEO, just as if he were CEO of Solindra or some other company or financial institution driven into the red by a greedy hired leader...
The ‘rats have no real direction-
No one knows what they’re doing
I wouldn’t really care, except
It is all of us they’re screwing
The stupid bills they introduce,
As plethoric as Obama’s speeches
Get passed before anyone sees
They give our money to leeches
Well, we don’t have any left-
Let’s hide and watch to see
What their Roman mob will do
When stuff is no longer free...
No pun intended?
you caught that? LOL
A+ for you. Don’t you love how all of their pet constituencies are exempting themselves from odisastercare?
You were saving that, weren’t you? ;)
Thank you! Doesn’t tell a pretty story, does it?
