I don’t understand writings and people like this. The Koran, as explained to me, commands Muslims to either convert non-believers, enslave them, or “put them to the sword.” The people who today “just don’t understand the anger towards Muslims” are the spiritual descendants of those who, in the 1930s, listened to Hitler scream about “ridding the land of Jews” and then asked one another, “But what does he really mean?” There is no cure for stupid and the stupid simply continue to endanger us.

Not entirely accurate. Muslims are commanded to require all to "submit to Allah."

For People of the Book who declined to convert, originally defined as Christians and Jews but since expanded to other religions in practice, at least some of the time, this means agreeing to accept second-class status known as dhimmi.

While modern people may not draw a big distinction, this was VERY different from being enslaved. Dhimmi status, in practice, could vary from barely noticeable formal acknowledgement of Muslim superiority, to Jim Crow/Nazi type harassments to "keep them in their place." The real kicker to being a dhimmi was that the implications of the status could change at a moment's notice at the whim of the ruler. You had no real legal rights. It was very much like the status of Jews in medieval Europe.

Pagans/idolators, originally including Hindus and Buddhists, were supposed to be given the choice only between conversion and death.
