Examples: Crazy Horse at Little Big Horn.
Grant: Against Robert E. Lee.
Xerxes and Darius against the ancient Greeks and not just the Spartans.
I read your first line of that post, and thought I would offer up Chester Nimitz as a rebuttal, but kept in mind he was locked in a death grip with the Japanese Navy when they were still on par or even superior.
