You are right, he appears to be a member of the royal family In most photos, he is wearing the white Ghutrah and black Agal (headdress w/ cords). This is unique to the royal family. (not the difference in his Ghutrah versus his peers.

Also, he just hid most of the photos on his facebook page of him with many other Saudis in Boston. Luckily I had backed many of those up. The ones below are no longer on his facebook page but I made copies.
