The federal government is now petitioning to have these signs removed or Washington state will be denied additional monies for interstate highways. The State of Washington replied, they will secede from the Union rather than be intimidated. These are a matter of free speech paid for by a private citizen.
It seems the Obama government uses intimidation and ignores the first amendment when they want to silence someone.
Northbound on I-5 near Chehalis , WA (88 miles south of Seattle )
Great signs. They should line every highway and byway in the country until this scourge is gone.
I might put some up myself. Have thought about it since I saw this.
Had before, but the creativity of graphics was not there. I have a plotter that would make blow up easy and I might just copy this with some mods.
Like the Burma Shave Signs. hee hee hee
Sorry if you are offended. I cannot help that their server stopped working immediately after creating this post. I know that the link is correct, this isn’t my first rodeo.
I’d love to directly post the images or describe what they say but I can’t even get back to the page.
What can I say?
BTW, I’m now offended that you are offended at me for this.
They are all in a similar vein.
I so love it. hee hee hee
Get over yourself. Use the Google or other search feature. You can find info about this sign. Besides, the link works.
He said "Yes, we can!"
But taking your money
was his real plan!
Burma Shave
lol
Lewis County, where these signs are, is very conservative.
The owners of a commercial turkey farm started putting up these signs in the late 60’s or early 70’s facing I-5. Allegedly, John Birchers.
In the 90’s, they sold their business and moved the signs to property where they added a few restaurants for travelers. The signs were enlarged but still had the “Uncle Sam Says” theme.
Back then, we thought they were “kooks” . Turns out they were ahead of their time.
Thank you for posting the pix.
I can’t believe that the server holding this webpage went down immediately after crating this post. Shite happens!
No problemo.
There is always another link on something like this.
Thanks for the post. Great find. I had not seen.
I live in the area. Yes, the sign is up. It has been moved from its original location by a mile or so. The old guy died awhile back and his family keep the message alive. I live about 80 miles NW from the sign. I always look for the message when driving in the area.
I drive by that sign going to and from Portland, and always make an effort to read what it says. He changes it every month or so there is always someting new. The farmer who owns the farm is quite conservative and is always very critical of state and federal governement. Since Washington is very liberal, I can understand why they would want to remove it, -to silence conservatives.
Thanks for the hotlink to these signs!
You are welcome.
I haven’t been through Chelalis recently, but the signs have been on that property since the late 70’s that I know of. They were often very anti-UN.
Billboard has been there for as long as I can remember and I’m 53 years old.
