Thank you!

If those two were part of a terrorist cell, their plane tickets and bunks at a training camp in some terror-supporting place in N Africa, Afghanistan, etc would be paid for by that group.

It looks as though the family in Russia isn’t exactly destitute-the youngest kid graduated from a supposedly prestigious school, I heard on the news. It appears that the older jihadist/brother had a wife who worked, too. Either way, they had the money and time to hang out and train to be terrorists-just exactly the kind of people we don’t need here....

“So both sides can be happy.”

On of my friends commented earlier that the terrorists were white guys after all-they just weren’t NASCAR fans...

Not really. Had they assimilated here, they would not have said that.

The father and aunt obviously haven’t been around either of their terrorist family members lately, not to mention not knowing how people get stolen goods here-like the fact that criminals get guns and explosives from other criminals who bought them overseas, traded drugs for them or stole them to sell on the black market-duh...

I can see how the father, who is far away in the former USSR might have a really skewed view-the KGB was still running amok within his memory, and they weren’t famous for bringing people in alive-but the aunt has apparently been in Canada for awhile-long enough to speak English. She said she was a lawyer in her home country-she should know better than to go babbling like that.

Because the media here is too busy running around trying to second-guess the LEO’s {who are trying to catch a terrorist} to stop shouting “wolf” and provide some pertinent background information on that terrorist?

Interesting - I think the media is still angry it wasn’t a tea party member so they haven’t had time to actually get facts

The drive-by media is all excited about the jihadist dropping the dime on fellow terrorists under questioning. If he has really been indoctrinated, I’m afraid he’s more likely to just shut up, or worse, provide false leads, like other terrorists have done.

They really should consider him an enemy combatant, American citizen or not-I don’t often agree with Graham, but I do agree with him on that.

I left the radio on, as usual last night-and I’ve been singing this Nirvana song for hours-the tune is catchy, but I don’t even like the song all that much-Cobain’s stuff was depressing...

“Come as you are, as you were
As I want you to be
As a friend, as a friend
As an old enemy

Take your time, hurry up
The choice is yours, don’t be late
Take a rest as a friend
As an old memoria,
Memoria memoria, memoria...”

Is he an American citizen. I know his brother is. Not sure about this one. I listened to RudyG today and he says we have lots of options. I figure, he knows.

My BP has shot up today to 200/93. I am lightheaded and dizzy. Had to sit out mass tonight. Took it again a few hours later and it’s still high. Am taking some BP meds I discontinued awhile back. Not a great day for me. Get to meet my new doctor this week, I guess.

The younger brother was granted citizenship recently-maybe they can revoke it? The older brother had a green card-he was also the one who was traveling back and forth to the countries of the former USSR where terrorist camps are supposed to be-places like Chechnya. Not to mention that the FBI took a look at him in 2011 on a tip from Russia or some other govt over there.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it terrorists from Chechnya who went to a school and killed as many children as they could a few years ago? Vicious bastards like that wouldn’t blink at bombing a marathon...

Yes. Something like 135 children and 300 people total, after a 2 week hostage situation.

That said, i suspect the radicalization of these brothers has more to do with generic Islam than with Chechen concerns.

I always liked Cobain essentially mocking his audience:

He’s the one who likes all our pretty songs
and he likes to sing along
and he likes to shoot his gun
but he don’t know what it means

I suspect you are right-it is a form of attack that Israel is more familiar with than we are-up close and personal in crowds of people-totally uncaring murder. It should really force a look at immigration safeguards-even if some aren’t bothered by drug gangs and murder exported from south of the border, this should rattle their cages.

MrT5 was from Seattle, and hated it there-he said Nirvana’s music, and that of other Seattle groups was so dark because of the climate there-they all suffered from seasonal affective disorder. I wasn’t surprised when Cobain took himself out-so many of his lyrics said he was unstable, referring to psychotropics, delusions, mental illness etc.

I’m so happy because today
I’ve found my friends ...
They’re in my head
I’m so ugly, but that’s okay, cause so are you...
We’ve broken our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care...
And I’m not scared
Light my candles in a daze...
Cause I’ve found god - hey, hey, hey

I did like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” for awhile...

Oh-interesting side story-my neighbor’s late-20-something son is convinced that Cobain was murdered, at the behest of his wife because she wanted to get rid of him without a fuss.

He also believes that Jim Morrison’s girlfriend helped him fake his death, and disappeared with him to someplace in Europe. Morrison supposedly suffered from Howard Hughes disorder-was an extreme recluse paranoid about germs-but those are a couple of the stranger conspiracy theories I’ve heard...

Well, Pittsburgh gets less sun than Seattle and the whole grunge thing resonated with me as a young single man.

But, yeah, it was dark.

Listen to Alice in Chains. They wrote intense music about heroin and ended up proving it when their singer died.

Heaven Beside You expresses the frustration well. It’s the band talking to the lead singer.
