Liberals don't even want the army to have guns. Ft. Hood was a gun free zone which permitted Nadil Hasan to go on a shooting spree without challenge.
FWIW, this is not a new or liberal policy.
The military has always kept tight control of weapons and ammunition. Check in and check out, etc. Goes back centuries.
