I’m not digging what he is saying on this, but I’m not seeing him as a full amnesty guy either.
I guess it depends on what you say amnesty is. He said no citizenship, no benefits, and long wait for green card. That’s not so bad (unless he’s lying, and that’s a whole different issue).
He moved border security down the list - NOT ACCEPTABLE.
He also said the status quo is de facto amnesty, which is about close to the truth. I mean, if nothing is done, we do have de facto amnesty.
He’s not Ted Cruz on this issue...but he’s not Chuck Schumer either.
No matter what he says they will get access to those services, either by court ruling or executive orders and any one over 12 years old should know that, including you.
The borders remain open after Reagan signed the immigration bill that began the decline and fall of our culture. The parts of that bill that would close the borders and enforce the law still sets unenforced, and somehow we are supposed to believe they will now enforce those laws? Right.
For the verbal exercise, let's use what Merriam-Webster says:
am·nes·ty [am-nuh-stee]
noun
1. a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
2. Law. an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.
3. a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.
To me, all three definitions qualify in Rubio's case. If you aren't suffering the accepted consequences for breaking the law through the actions of authority, it's amnesty.
"He also said the status quo is de facto amnesty, which is about close to the truth. I mean, if nothing is done, we do have de facto amnesty."
That may well be, but if this is done, you can drop the "de facto". Amnesty will be codified and you know as well as I do that this government will not do a damn thing to secure the border.
