Pierce Brosnan Backs First Black James Bond [Why Not P-Diddy?]

Pierce Brosnan Backs First Black James Bond Former 007 Pierce Brosnan says black British actor Colin Salmon would make an "outstanding" James Bond, but there is no rush to replace Daniel Craig.

The first black Bond?: British actor Colin Salmon By James Lachno 13 Apr 2013 Pierce Brosnan has suggested that Colin Salmon would be his pick to become the first black James Bond.

The Irish actor, 59, who is about to appear in a Danish romantic comedy called Love Is All You Need, was asked who might replace current 007 Daniel Craig in the film franchise.

He said: "I've always thrown Colin Salmon's name in the mix. He's somebody I have worked with closely over the years. He would be outstanding and I think it would be absolutely essential."

Brosnan played James Bond in four films in the 1990s and 2000s, before Daniel Craig took over as the international man of mystery for Casino Royale in 2006.

Salmon, 50, appeared alongside Brosnan in three James Bond films – Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day – as MI6 Deputy Chief of Staff Charles Robinson. His other film roles include Resident Evil and Alien vs. Predator.

It sounds pretty stupid, unless they make a serious effort, like using Denzel Washington.

Yikes, I googled him, he is 58 years old, but he could still play a 45 year old Bond I suppose.

For me, the character of James Bond lost credibility when they went out of their way to show that he wasn’t a smoker (I think it was Tomorrow Never Dies.). Screw it, I’ll just read the novels by Ian Fleming from now on!

I guess the era of realism in movies is over.

I can't see your eyes, so I don't know how to take that.

Sorry, I don’t want a list of future PC James Bonds. However, I must say, this Salmon guy is mighty good looking. Has those rugged facial features many (both men and women) like. Just not as James Bond, who was always a white guy, by the way. Just sayin....

You are partially right.
I have not watched a single Bond since Connery.
Moore was no more a serious Bond than he was a serious Maverick.
Moore was the Saint.

A black Bond?
You gotta be chittin me. Bond was described in every Fleming book as a SCOTSMAN. Not a black Scotsman. A Scotsman.
This Affirmative Action crap is really going too far.
What next?
Nathan B. Forrest played by Samuel L. Jackson?

I never was a fan of Bond movies, in fact I mostly hated them, but the new ones with Craig are very good.

Even the coolest Bond, (Sean Connery type), needs to show a hint of something in there, and smoking is the perfect imperfection to convey a hint of the personality of the man living that lifestyle of violence and death and risk, no matter how controlled and composed that he appears on the surface.

Ru Paul is James Bond.

He is too busy in his continual run for president and his home school curriculum with a bunch of truthers.

No

Looks too old and out of shape. Not very impressive in a suit.

And he looks like Yul Brenner with a tan.

They would have lost credibilty with me if Bond were a smoker and he didn't collapse gasping for air everytime he had to chase or fight somebody.

No kidding.

I remember getting up to walk out of the first Iron Man at the credits when someone sitting behind me said "wait, there's an extra scene at the end."

I was FLOORED at the sight of Samuel L. Jackson wearing the eye-patch, and think he's been perfect in the Nick Fury role. The only issue I've had with the character is that they didn't go with the much better alternate ending scene in Captain America.
