I saw this on one of those talk shows; maybe it was Dr. Phil. They interviewed men who did this, and many of men they showed were middle aged, unattractive men who would never be able to get a woman who looks like that here. One man was ranting about American women not being submissive enough. Another man spent thousands of dollars to bring this woman back. She had health problems, and he spent thousands of dollars getting them addressed. She then left him. These women want to get in for the green card, but when they get here and they see they have an opportunity with attractive, younger guys, are they really going to stay?
yes. Philippine girls sometimes chose to do this.
I’ve known two such marriages: one, a Russian girl married to a doc whose problem was shyness. Another, a nerdy professor married to a Filipino girl.
In both cases, the girls wanted marriage and money security, but chose and met the guy a few times before they married, and if the marriage worked, it was because they treasured their husbands and treated them well, and vice versa.
and lots of military guys married local girls too...some worked out, some didn’t...
And here in the Philippines, a lot of the Americans who retire here do so because they married local girls. It’s easier for them to retire here: without family, you can rent an apartment for foreigners, but if you want a social life it’s easier if you have family around...
also, You can’t “own” land or a business here if you are a foreigner, but hey if you want to start an organic farm etc. you just put it in your wife’s name...
