Tip off at 9:23 EDT on CBS.
12 of the largest 13 HIGH SCHOOL gyms are in Indiana, LOL
I realize that certain big time basketball schools - like Duke - lose money on football. I also realize that basketball recruiting budgets are not even a big line item on a big schools’ athetic department budget, while football recruiting budgets are about 15X basketball budgets. I also know that college basketball revenues from TV, radio, and ticket sales are NOT DOWN during the recession. They just aren’t. I also realize that Michigan has less Michigan natives on their team this year than they had in the 80’s and 90’s....they’ve always had a lot of home grown guys and almost always had midwestern guys. In other words, I realize your midwestern home grown theory is not valid. You’re talking to a guy who was writing sports at age 13 for pay .
Yes, one of Louisville’s best players broke his leg badly...bone protruding from skin...in a freak non contact play against Duke in regional final. Awful injury, but his full recovery prognosis is very positive thanks to the technology of titanium rods being inserted. (Obama Care soon to cancel no doubt...)
It’s like we’re watching a basketball version of that movie “Rudy” ...
Louisville looks like they are tired.
Ware, the injuried player, is key to their ability to chase a team with as many shooters as Michigan has....and they will miss him tonight. They also are looking a bit discouraged already as well. When a guy averaging 1 point a game hits 5 straight 3’s - that tends to happen.
Dude is unconscious.....
They made it sound like it was some huge deal but my ER doc buddy says they do these several times a week from car wrecks.
Of course the kid went to Methodist (just a few blocks from the stadium) where they got famous patching together race car drivers.
oh, it’s routine now to a point, but this is the same injury Joe Theisman had that ended his career - and the technology was not available then. And then again, it’s one thing for a 55 yr old dude to play golf after a car wreck...salvaging an NBA career is another thing altogether....
Plus good coaching to leave in Albrecht who is hot and rest Burke who has 2 fouls.
The refs are “letting them play”... that’s for sure.
Of course, Lousville had won games from 15-17 points behind several times this season....so it’s not over...but Michigan looks fabulous at the moment.
Did he have a career insurance policy? I know most top line college players do. Heck here in Indiana, even some high school kids have them.
I doubt he did, but they say this surgery will bring him back as good as ever....so this will delay, but not prevent, such a career....
Do people who like basketball not have jobs? is that why the put the finals on after bedtime?
crap
