Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell says he will sign a bill into law that bans smoking at some of Oahu's most popular beaches, but it first must pass legal review.
KITV-TV reports that Honolulu City Councilman Stanley Chang wants to outlaw smoking at some of the island's most popular beach parks.

Come to any public Galveston beach area late on any warm Sunday afternoon and see all the litter left by the Mexicans. And the trash cans will be practically empty.
Cigarette smokers are the least of their problems. Everyone that I know that smokes on the beach as well as the rest of the families that used to go there always took their trash with them.

There isn’t one iota of evidence that stray smoke particles that might waft their way towards a person out in the open causes cancer or breathign problems because the amount is so miniscule and so diluted and broken apart by air currents by the time it reaches a person as to be effectively harmless- Yet these smoking nazis in their self righteous ‘shove it down everyone’s throats’ mentality just make crap up claiming it’s a ‘danger to society’ and smokers just rolled right over and took it- They SHOULD HAVE taken this to court and demanded that the people tryign to ram through the asinine law PROVE that smoking on a beach was directly responsbile for ANY cancers or breathign problems- they hsoudl have been made to provide the SCIENTIFIC PROOF that is was such a danger as to warrent imediate passage of said laws- Infact, IF smokers rights groups were to launch a lawsuit they probably still coudl get a judge to halt all outdoor bans UNTIL such proof is provided- but I’m not seeign smoker’s rights groups launchign many lawsuits for some reason

They aren’t just chipping away nymore0- they are throwing hteir unconsitutional crap smack dab in our faces and darign anyone to do somethign about it- which of course noone iwll- so they just keep brazenly throwing their self sanctimonious crap in our faces-

You smokers have brought this on yourself. You are PIGS with the ashes and butts dropped or flung everywhere. Be it out of your car windows or on your neighbors driveway. Smoke if you want but keep your trash to yourselves.
So, if someone has a bad case of nasty flatulence from a heavy dinner of bean burritos, you have no issue with them being up-wind of you, because it is outdoors?
You need to understand that the smell of smoldering tobacco is as noxious as bean farts to many people, no matter how much you may enjoy inhaling one or the other.
It comes down to not befouling the air of others. No one gives a damn what you you to your lungs, just do it elsewhere.
Stupid...about half the people on those beaches are from Asia and heavy smokers...nothing like putting a knife in your chicken that lays the golden egg. Liberals amaze me.
I wandered a little too far east at Waikiki,(past the old Navitorium)
And found myself surrounded by good-looking amorous men.
The only problem was,
They were being amorous with each other.
I wonder if their “activities” will be banned, along with that nasty, naughty smoking?

No one is jailing the smokers.
They were asked for years to have just a bare minimum of politeness and responsibility and not leave their butts all over the beach. We installed special recepticles all over the beaches (that were unsightly and expensive) and they woudn’t even use those.
Then we spend millions having to take up the recepticles so they beaches can be combed and sifted of the butts.
Smokers could not muster up even the bare minimum of politeness and decency.
I’ve seen it firsthand for years.
They are banning it because of the litter problem mostly.
Yet
The vast majority of smokers WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES discard of their butts appropriately.
This has been going on for decades in Hawaii and smokers have been given decades of chances to change their ways. They WILL NOT. Period. They are militant that they don’t have to follow any littering rules.
They had a chance to prove they could be responsible and good citizens. They ARE NOT (again the vast majority).
Sorry that responsible smokers have to be lumped in with them, but enough is enough.
I have witnessed this first hand for decades. Smokers are not going to change. Ever.
Smokers do not own the beaches.
And I resent that I now have to pay for people to go out and enforce a rule that should be common sense and common decency.
I RESENT IT!
