Obviously you thought that you would be 100% supported in your plea for a hand out. Sorry that I am not on board with the begging program. You have made every excuse in the book rather than take responsibility for a rather innocent request that your kid have a couple scout uniform pieces in place to participate in an activity. You even balked at spending $4-$5 on used pieces. Personally I gave you multiple sure fire ways to raise money but you chose to make excuses. The final request I would make is that you don’t use the “God Bless I am a single disabled mom” line when you are looking for a hand out. It just brings ridicule down on the heads of other Christians.
FR is a place where like minded folks come together. in a neighborly fashion. When one of us hurts, we all hurt. When one of us cries, we all cry. When one of us needs prayers, we all pray. When someone's pet needs help, others offer helpful suggestions. When someone's hibiscus has yellow spots, others offer helpful suggestions. I wonder what is kind, neighborly or helpful to trussell by your posts.
I don't happen to give a squat about what *your* opinion is about what an author's *opinion* is about charity. In the spirit of this site, and compassion of the Christian faith, I urge you to climb down from your high horse, as you are sounding very pretentious and self-righteous; and close to hypocritical of your proclaimed faith.
Even your beloved Olasky warns, that partial re-adoption of the seven marks of compassion will be dangerous if unaccompanied by *a spiritual revival that transforms the everyday advice people give and receive, and the way we lead our lives*.
If you think life delivers nice little tribulations to be overcome in nice easy formulas, then I pray you do not ever become disabled and your children never have to go without.
In the neighborly spirit of this site, I hope you can get off your high horse without hurting yourself.
It’s not my place to say so, but you have chosen to be judgemental to me so I will take this opportunity to say...
...I don’t think you would know true Christian faith, love, understanding, forgiving etc...if it bit you on your hind end. Thank you for bringing such discourse to my thread...all I am asking is “if you were/are a scout, and you have some old uniforms in this size, please consider passing them on to a new scout”
