I am just curious since Beck seemed to be very popular on FR and has seemed to have faded away.
I pay to watch his 5pm Beck TV internet channel and find it very difficult to trade concepts with other fans.
I noticed that Beck started peaking about a year ago.
He still has a following, but it’s not there like it
was 4 or 5 years ago. I think that’s what’s called overexposure:
He had his finger in too many pots, and became something of an “institution”-—the same phenomenon happened to Rush, but
Rush continues on stronger than ever, and has a deeper connection to his listeners than Beck ever did.
I liked his Fox show, and always tried to catch it. But I’ve found it more and more difficult to overlook some of his annoying eccentricities since then. I’ll turn on his radio show, and he’ll be joking and in fits of laughter with his buddies... then in a split-second, he’s so gravely apocalyptic and bordering on tears... then, a second later he’s hawking something like a spy-novel he wrote.
I just can’t take that kind of weird, emotional whiplash. Something really offputting about it. Spastic and unmanly. It turns me away. Even when he’s offering a lot of very valid info and commentary.
Interestingly enough, the cult of personality, sadly exists among liberals and conservatives alike.
Post a thoughtful thread that requires some reading and context in order to advance the discussion, and you get virtually no feedback.
Post a thread the mentions a conservative or liberal celebrity and you get a boat load of replies.
My post was a test.
I have found that most people, including folks here, are more interested in the “one off” shot.
Gotcha or clever cynicism seems to rule.
I am certainly guilty of this myself, however I need a platform that allows for the free expression ideas that are respectfully debated and shared.
I’ll read what he writes but he’s too excitable for me to listen to him anymore.
Slow motion train wreck.
I’ve tried, but he is too much of Drama Queen for my taste.
I leave that job to Mrs. Beck.
LOL!
I prefer to listen to his radio program when he has a guest host, because I can’t stand cry babies.
His tv show is very educational. I don’t agree with everything he says or believes but I know he loves our country and the Constitution.
I think it was a mormon thing
LOL
Seriously, it was his Jim Baker/Benny Hinn impersonation that got me to tune him out.
It was manipulative.
Other than that, his shows were great and informative.
That’s what it is!
After one too many crying schticks on TV I turned him off.
Then he started showing up on my radio and I just couldn’t listen to him
Wish Sirius would bring back FoxNews Talk, I really like John Gibson and few others.
Count me in as a big fan as well! His TV show is excellent...only real investigative journalism out there today! They do their homework...like most conservatives on TV and radio, they can’t afford to be wrong
Yes. HOORAY Glenn Beck and all who work with him! Glenn Beck is OUTSTANDING!
Glenn’s tv show is excellent. His prediction regarding the Muslim spring was a powerful demonstration of his research abilities. I’ve never witnessed a remotely comparable prediction.
His radio show is an acquired taste, but I enjoy it too.
I used to watch him sometimes back when he was on CNN, and sometimes on FNC. He’s just not the type of guy I want to watch. He did some good things, but crying and conspiracy crap became too much. I don’t watch any news or listen to any radio anymore. I just read the stories I want to here at FR.
No, got tired of all the blubbering and tin foil conspiracy theories. I think he still has some good points but I’ll get them from somewhere else.
My wife’s a big fan, I enjoy his show. I’m the one that runs the Roku, or wify would be SOL.
I listen to his show over the internet also. More often than not entertaining. I wish/hope he gets on regular cable, Roku is a pig.
