I wanted to see if any of you out there have experience or could recommend a home surveillance system. I am looking for a few things (and yes, there is a ton out there I have read up on, I am looking for any of you with first hand experience): Local Storage and how many hours can it store? Motion detection/activation (save on stoarge) Four cameras (wired or wireless, makes no difference to me) Ease of setup Relatively easy to hide cameras, I don't need james bond, but nothing overly noticable. Audio? USB port for backups. Going out on a limb, ability to backup segments to "the cloud". Anything else I am overlooking? Warranty? Support? I would like to keep the cost down (don't we all). I have been seeing in the 300-500 range so far.
thoughts?
I thought that the system that you linked to required an IPhone.
My bother put up security cameras and several times noticed dodgy door to door solicitor types get a hitch in their step or turn back when they saw a camera on them; and in another instance, he recorded the burglary of the house next door.

Everything you need, highest quality in the world, lower prices than you’d expect.
The National Security Administration, the CIA, and FBI headquarters in Quantico are among the satisfied clients.
Yes. It's exceptionally amusing when you can get a video with the real one, showing a burglar destroying or disabling the fake one, and then trying to break in ...
The gubmint is already watching your house.
I am as well; however, us siblings installed one on our inherited farm last year. No one lives there, but we have web access and email alerts for any detected activity outside and inside. The farm system was a Ganz system with up to 16 channels. I would never buy that for my home—cost about 10k$. Cycles one month records.
Comparable systems can be purchased for a lot less, I believe. Something else I will also buy are the wireless game camera systems (camo and longterm power—battery and solar) to mount in the woods on trees for our property. About $250 a pop to catch all “non-conventional approaches” and transmit to house/web monitoring system. Use circular buffering to record the time you want. At this time, I would estimate 2-3000 bucks for a suitable system. No specific components picked out yet.
Thank you all, knew I could count on freepers to lend a hand...Great links and info...Not to do some reading!
Okay, then just buy the signs that say you have a security system! lol
