Not just one, but two defensive uses of guns used in this story. From the article, it appears that after the wife shot the intruders, they ran towards a neighbor’s house. The neighbor felt threatened so he pointed a gun at the suspects to protect himself; thereby, forcing the criminals to flee into the woods. Now, I wonder if this gets any national press coverage.

Yes, the article has been expanded since I originally posted. More details now available:

The men fled, and neighbor Wayne Crumpler said he heard them yelling for help.

“I heard somebody out at the road. He was hollering, ‘Help me,’ waving his arms, jumping up and down trying to stop traffic,” Crumpler said. “There was another guy in the background. I heard him hollering, ‘Help me, I’ve been shot in the chest. I’m dying.’”

One of the men then started toward Crumpler’s house.

“He started in this direction. I stepped inside and got my revolver,” he said. “I told him to hold it.”

The man then ran into the woods, Crumpler said.

Assuming this part of the event chain is accurate I’m gonna recommend the closet chick step up to a litle more horsepower-—I’d say 357 magnum minimum. There’s no excuse for letting these two boobs remain in running condition. That’s part of the responsibility that goes along with defending one’s self——don’t leave the dunderheads in shape to do damage to someone else. The woman would have felt terrible if they had hurt a neighbor after she just winged them
