WND reported four days ago that Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink, a left-wing peace and social justice movement known for its colorful marches and protests, told WABC host Aaron Klein the potential for the Obama administration to abuse its growing domestic police power is extremely troubling.
Klein asked Benjamin, author of Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control, if she was concerned that military-style drones now authorized to fly over U.S. skies could be used against American citizens, the same question that prompted U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to filibuster in the Senate earlier this month.
Very much so, Benjamin replied. We see a militarization of the U.S. police forces here in the United States, and its a very troubling tendency.
Furthermore, Benjamin charged she was upset that liberal Democrats who might question and fight the federal governments growing police powers under a Republican administration have been very quiet when this is happening under Obama.
This is good news, and we need to use this gift as much as we can. If the far left is getting concerned too, then the center is as well, except of course the low information voters. This is an issue where the American people can rally to our cause. Send McCain and Grahmn to the old folk's home, and come out strong on this issue. It is the right thing to do, it desperately needs to be done, and it is a tremendous winning issue.
Funny how the Republicans are quiet when the Republicans emplace the mechanisms the Democrats use later, but raise holy hell when the Democrats try.
Power is dangerous, especially when the person who controls it can change.
We need to remember the Constitution is there to protect everyone's Rights and act accordingly, regardless of who proposes measures which go outside the lines.
If Rand Paul is smart he’d make this a signature issue and bring these marginal votes round to our side in the presidential election.
