I would like to point out the who BMI is a piece of S**T. I had a BMI test done to me and they said it was too high for my height. Never mind that I’m working out and if I go down the “correct” BMI index, I would be skinny as rail.

Darn. And CVS was so convenient for me. Well, there are other pharmacies.

In 1986, part of the hiring process for the large bank I worked for in NYC was a physical by their doctor. I never even questioned the process.

A new policy at the popular pharmacy chain CVS is causing outrage after the company announced it will require its employees to report their weight, BMI, and glucose levels – or pay a hefty fine.

Ping for later

Hopefully the insurance premiums of unhealthy employees will skyrocket, but I don’t wish the loss of a job on anyone.

Cerner Corporation (hospital software company, Kansas City, MO) has been doing this for years. Started out voluntary, then not so voluntary (due to surcharges on health insurance). One of the (many) reasons I left...

Surprise! That means most of them.

Cigna is doing that here in Dallas.

$30.00 every two weeks on top of the regular cost.

Last year it was answer a questionnaire.

First question was “name,” second question was “do you smoke more than ten cigarettes a YEAR,” third question was “what is your cell phone number” and that is when I walked out and went back to my desk.

This year it is the “bio-metric” screening via a blood draw.

NOPE.

Next year?

My company does much the same thing...sort of.

They call it a Health Risk Assessment and we take it yearly.

It is voluntary and consists of about 50 questions. The reward is lower contributions/premiums on the health insurance they offer....which is quite good.

There is no way a company should be assessing fines for non-compliance.

Nothing to see here. Boeing has been doing this for two years to direct employees, with provisions to apply same to spouses in the near future.

Here in Proto-Oceania the Inner Party long ago decreed we proles do not belong to ourselves.

What the hell, the federal monster already has all of this information, shares it with DC lawyers, shares it with faceless bureaucrats and politicians, and the highest bidder, and, if you don’t comply with govt, they won’t just fine you, they simply jack your property or kill you getting it. And you are worried about some company?

This has been an ongoing thing where I work for years now (biometric screening to get a slight discount on healthcare insurance fees). We are incidentally forced to use CVS or mail order through CVS for any prescription that is deemed a maintenance prescription (one that is used for 3 consecutive months or more, or is in their formulary as such).

So, what exactly is the difference between a $50/month “discount” if you do a “biometric screening” and a $50/month “fine” if you do not do a “biometric screening”?

Companies are trying to reduce the amount they pay for health insurance. There are similar conditions at my work for those who want to have the best health care plan.

This isn’t really that remarkable.

Simple.
I would not sign and I would not pay. If they deducted the money or fired me I would have them in court so fast...........
