Sure is a screwed-up industry. Last year I wanted to fly from Binghamton to Detroit. Delta want $1,000+. So I checked the cost of going to L.A., connecting through Detroit: $749. Same thing going to Greenville, S.C., connecting through Charlotte was $750. So I checked the price if I were to stop in Charlotte and drive the rest of the way, over $1,100. When you can add two segments to an itinerary and
lower the price, they're screwed up.
As for amenities, my daughter flew JetBlue from Newark to Tampa. What used to be their cut-rate service is now pretty attractive compared to the larger, cattle car operations.
