Robert Iselin Jr., was shot once in the chest by Lucas Brickweg during a hunting trip in Greenwood County, S.C. Witnesses have said the shooting was an accident.

Robert Iselin Jr., 51, of Jacksonville, Fla., was shot to death in South Carolina by fellow hunter Lucas Brickweg of Satellite Beach, Fla., who mistook him for a wild boar.

A hunter was mistakenly shot dead by his friend who confused him with a wild boar, police have said.

Robert Iselin Jr., 51, was gunned down by 25-year-old Lucas Brickweg during a hunting trip in Greenwood County, S.C., at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

Iselin, from Jacksonville, Fla., had separated from his group after going into the wooded area near the town of Ninety Six.

The incident happened on a huning trip while the two men, and others, were hunting wild boar in Greenwood County, S.C.

Brickweg, some distance away, was climbing into a hunting stand when he heard some rustling.

Firing a single shot, he thought he'd taken out a wild boar.

But, on going to inspect the animal, he was shocked to find he'd struck his fellow hunter in the chest.

Lucas Brickweg, 25, has been charged with criminal use of a firearm and having no hunting license.

Capt. Robert McCullough, from the Department of Natural Resources, told the Index-Journal that Brickweg was in the stand when he heard something and fired.

"He waited and didn't see anyone or didn't hear anything else. About 10 minutes later, he got down and went over and found his buddy was lying there," said McCullough.

Fox Carolina reports that two of Iselin's brothers, who were also on the trip, have confirmed to cops that the shooting was an accident.

Brickweg, of Satellite Beach, Fla., has been charged with criminal use of a firearm and having no hunting license.

Firing at ‘rustling’ and a kill with one shot? I think this should be investigated further.. Sounds like cold-blooded murder to me, and this punk knew damn well what he was shooting at.

“Sounds like cold-blooded murder to me, and this punk knew damn well what he was shooting at.”

That makes more sense than the story being told

I still remember the hunter in Maine who killed a young mother of twins in her own backyard - she was wearing white mittens and he thought he saw a deer flash.

If you can’t fully identify what you’re shooting at, and what is behind it, you have no business shooting at all. It’s not just your own hunting companions you have to watch out for.

Jury found him not guilty, btw.

The kid could put the cross-hairs on his friend’s chest for a kill shot, but we’re suppose to believe he didn’t see what he was shooting at?

Hey! Give the guy a break! Maybe he was just following his Vice President's advice!

"If there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony, walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house."

Number of years ago, hunting elk in SW CO. Met some guys who had obviously been partaking of adult beverages. Asked them of course if they’d seen any game. They said they hadn’t, but had got some good “sound shots.”

Informed them that if they shot at us, we’d shoot back and moved into the next valley.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/feinstein-its-legal-hunt-humans-15-round-30-round-even-150-round-magazines

“In arguing to limit ammunition for guns, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said, “it’s legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines.”

I guess if he was using a high capacity magazine it would have been legal!!

I heard of a vetinarian from Vegas who was bowhunting at night and pinned his buddy to a tree in Colorado.
I think his name was Dave Crow

I once accidentally appeared on a wild boar’s talk show, having mistook it for Rosie O’Donnell.

Precisely the reason I no longer hunt. Too many ignorant AHo’s with firearms who shoot at movement and noise occasionally fueled with alcohol. Having a couple of rounds of 30-06 whizz through the trees over your head did it for me. Thank God the moron was a poor shot.

When I was growing up there was a article in my home town paper during Elk season where a local rancher was on his own land on horseback with a rifle in a scabbard when he was shot under similar circumstances. The round pierced his leg, breaking it, then through the rifle stock breaking that and into the horse, killing the horse. A perfect trifecta. The horse dropped pinning the rider underneath the horse. When the ecstatic “hunter” came out of the brush to tag his “Elk” he saw what he had done and to his credit rendered aid and got help. FWIW the shooting took place in Montana and the shooter was from out of state. I will give you 3 guesses what large west coast state the “hunter” came from
