BBQ. Real BBQ, smoked meat, is actually pretty simple. But the Yankees will, eventually, screw it up by making it not so simple. And before you know it they will be serving “authentic Parisian BBQ”. Or some other such bastardization of my much beloved “put it on and leave it while me and my friends get drunk” authentic, red neck dammit BBQ

I think the kind of food you like depens a lot on where you grew up. My Mother lived in Florida within sight of the Alabama line. She cooked Southern because that is the way she knew how to cook. I grew up eating her cooking and would give anything to be a 10 year old boy again and have one of Mother’s great meals.

I like Texas and Louisiana but not their food. I don’t care for the taste of mesquite and they put too much pepper in their chili etc.

I probably would like Louisiana food if they didn’t make it so spicy. I lived in Western, Kansas for five years and it was the worst food I ever had. They did know how to turn out steaks tho. I typically would order a Porterhouse and a baked potato.

The best hot dogs I have had were cooked by a bunch of Greeks in Tulsa. I think the best seafood I have ever had was at La Fountains wharf in Destin, Florida. Good food available every where but some places are better than other.

Oh yes, I like BBQ Chicken , Beef and pork but it is not real BBQ unless it is pork cooked slowly over a pit with Hickory.
