Gwyneth Paltrow says she starves her kids of carbohydrates: "We're left with that specific hunger"
Daily Mail (UK) ^ | 3/12/13 | Daniel Bates

Posted on 03/12/2013 1:49:02 PM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

She has tried the macrobiotic diet, the kale and lemon cleanse and only eating salad for days on end. But now Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that she has begun inflicting her obsessions with food on her own children - by starving them of carbohydrates.

Miss Paltrow, 40, said that that she avoids feeding pasta, bread or rice to Apple, eight, and Moses, six, because it is bad for them, even though they are left ‘craving’ the food.

Her decision was based on the fact that everyone in her house - including husband Chris Martin - is supposedly intolerant of gluten, dairy and chicken’s eggs.

Miss Paltrow’s comments are an admission that her habit of going for the latest fad diet is filtering down to how she behaves as a mother.

She has in the past told how she snacks on almonds when she is hungry rather than cave in and have a proper meal. She spent her 20s on the macrobiotic diet during which time she ate mostly vegetables and beans and chewed her food more thoroughly than usual.

In her new cookbook, called ‘It’s All Good,’ which is released next month, Miss Paltrow devotes an entire chapter to grains but is deeply sceptical about them. She writes: ‘Every single nutritionist, doctor and health-conscious person I have ever come across seems to concur that (gluten) is tough on the system and many of us are at best intolerant of it and at worst allergic to it.'

You're quite the defensive type of person, aren't you? That's what happens when your fingers originate the thought rather than your brain.

Even so, you still need to work on that reading comprehension problem of yours.

Except the wookie only wants to control other people’s eating. Obviously, not her own.

I can drink tea, and that’s what I’ve been doing. I was going to Starbucks almost every day and getting a latte. I have now broken the habit, and I’m glad about that! Starbucks is crazy expensive and it was a bad habit!

It makes you mad when others point out the fact that you're not very bright, doesn't it?

I'm guessing that happens a lot. Bummer.

Not true. I get an asthma attack when I have wheat gluten - and complications from lactose.

Believe you me, I wish I didn't have this problem - and I sure as heck don't do it as an "attention getter" - far from it. (and side note - my sister is allergic to eggs - found that out in the last six months)

I also don't like paying almost double for my starches, or additional things to help with milk products.

Be thrilled you're in perfect gastrointestinal health.

Exactly. Gluten intolerance is a fad disease that rarely exists in real people. There is a reason why bread has been called the staff of life, and milk called nature’s perfect food.

I gave a loaf of home made bread to a friend who cannot eat many carbs and no wheat. She ate it with no problem.

I use all organic flour and mostly whole wheat, with some barley flour and a bit of white to keep it lighter.

So, she had no problem. Usually it’s the type of carbohydrates. Non-organic refined flour can cause digestive problems that whole grain organic flour may not cause.

I’ve found that the more processed something is the less I want to eat it.

I gave up eating anything except what I cook at home years ago. Digestion and general health much improved (also herbs help a lot) even though I was eating much less processed stuff than the average person. People might think it’s boring not eating out but I don’t like going out anyway, and I save a lot of money, which is useful since I am dirt poor.

“Foods” like hyrdrogenated oils, artificial color/flavor/preservatives etc/corn syrup are vilely noxious ingredients. A lot of so called health foods have “natural flavor” which is basically a form of MSG type hydrolized vegetable (ie soy) protein. It’s nasty too.

I think she is naturally thin and the tan is artificial. Describing your children as hungry is obviously an odd turn of words for an odd woman, it just still isn’t clear whether the situation classifies as a craving for processed sugars and simple carbs or a genuinely frightening nutrient deficiency. The children are definitely on the road to health issues and psychological issues, though. The only positive I associate with Gwyneth was her praise of Madonna’s generosity, when the two were still best friends a few years ago. She needs that same level of support around her today.
