Doesn’t “Creve Coeur” mean “flat heart”?

Doesnt Creve Coeur mean flat heart? It supposedly means broken heart. I don't recall how it got its name, It was named by the French before the Louisiana purchase. The city signs all have a broken heart symbol. Maybe a fur trapper got dumped by an Indian princess.
