I heard this today.
Sheriff Terry Maketa of El Paso County, CO is going to press for an investigation against the Democrat leadership for extortion and influencing public, elected officials. The Dems are angry at the very large group of state sheriffs who testified against the anti-gun legislation. Sheriff Maketa made his serious statements on the radio station KVOR, the Jeff Crank show, in Colorado Springs between 9:30 - 10:00 AM. He will file charges with the Colorado State Attorney General's office. Sheriff Maketa got an email from the Dem leadership to back off and change their collective positions on gun control or the Democrat legislature would hold up or stop legislation that effects sheriff's pay throughout Colorado. Sheriff Maketa went on to say that this threat to pay does not effect him personally, but does other sheriffs in the state,.
Wow if this is true it’s as corrupt a position that has come to light in a very long time.
Am I surprised? No.
This is what we’ve come to with them.
Wow! Somebody was stupid enough to put this threat in an email?
Yes they are that dumb.
Yes they are that dumb
No, they're that ANGRY. Sheriffs hold elected offices and with a group of sheriffs that large, some of them might be Democrats. Democrats are a lot like Muslims: some are radical and they're the ones in control, while others are moderate and reasonable. The moderate and reasonable ones are attacked viciously whenever they challenge the radicals' power and control, or say anything that undercuts the radicals' agenda.
Thats unacceptable, and Americans for Prosperity-Colorado doesnt intend to take no for an answer. Our online petition - click here to sign - calls on all lawmakers, and on Gov. John Hickenlooper, to initiate a prompt, comprehensive, no-limits investigation of Energy Office operations, expenditures and bookkeeping practices, so Coloradans can be sure that whatevers gone wrong in the office is publicly disclosed and promptly corrected.
Fully accounting for taxpayer money isnt a partisan issue. Democrats should be as interested as Republicans are in getting a full accounting of Energy Office operations as should the governor himself. Blocking a second audit simply deepens public suspicions that something scandalous is going on.
Not sure if I like this. My home state of Illinois holds the record for most corrupt in the union, and this upstart dem machine in CO looks like serious competition. Can they do that? I mean, we don’t have a lot, but I was sure we could at least hang on to that.
Sue for fraud, malfeasance or whatever the law allows.
That brings the powers of discovery which gives huge power to dig into every nook and cranny.
If you have secrets, civil suit is far more to be feared than a criminal charge because of the many restrictions the courts have put on criminal prosecutors, investigators, etc.
I dunno. Illinois latest with Jesse Jackson Jr. corruption and all is tough to beat.
Lawsuits are the only way. The favored tactic of the left has to be employed against them since Republicans cannot be counted on to do their jobs and the media determines their direction via hit pieces and pressure.
In every state there is enough money going to worthless GOP candidates that people would be better served feeding to a complete shark tank of a legal team. THEN we would see results and Democrats in prison garb.
Civil suits can quickly lead to criminal charges with the right people pressing the issue.
Oh yeah, when kvor does put up the latest podcast of the Jeff Crank show, the Sheriff Maketa interview is in the last half hour of the show.
Hokie Smokes! These folks are seriously stupid. Good for the Sheriff!
It will soon be discovered that Illinois no longer holds the number one position or official government corruption. Colorado not only learned from the old boys in Chicago, they imported the worst scum possible from Mexico City and various third-world hellholes.
Of course I can't prove it, but that's what happened. Even Chickenpooper has said he's not worried that signing these bills will affect his reelection, so obviously Bloomberg's put a few bucks in his pocket too.
I’m proud to tell you that’s my sheriff. I not only voted for him, but have a letter from him to thank me for renewing my Colorado Permit to Carry Concealed Handguns.
Is there perhaps a convenient foreign country with a grievance against this guy that'd like to hold a trial and convict him of something that would make it impossible for him to engage in foreign travel ~ rather like what the French did to Soros?
Wow. Gun running, eh? This suggests a whole new paradigm for analyzing the gun grabbers; could they be playing Monopoly? It worked so well with drugs. Perhaps there are some who actually want a black market for guns. What a profit center that would make. So you shut down the free market in guns, not because you care about the children or the the ideals of Marx, but because you can play it into vast personal wealth via monopoly. Not saying this is actually the case, but your comment triggered the thought, metaphorically speaking, that is.
Gee thanks. I think ...
