Dean was good at playing drunks. At least I think he was playing.

Two Dean Martin threads posted by two different posters within two minutes of each other. I had to double check to see it he just died again.

Lewis resurrected the Martin half of the team via the character of Buddy Love in The Nutty Professor.

No two films better capture the spirit of America in the early 60's than The Nutty Professor and Ocean's 11.
The remakes don't deserve to have the same names.

I adore Dean Martin, thanks for posting. Two things, no, three. Lewis stole a lot of his act from a black comedian who was much funnier than Lewis. Their career as a duo was made by their agent, Freddie Fields. And the both of them isn’t correct English - it’s both of them, no the.

Not to be picky, but “do be do be do” was Sinatra. He sang it in the final seconds of “Strangers In The Night,” back in 1966.
I thank he also threw in a “ram scam scuttle dee” for good measure; the DJ usually talked over it though.

I believe I read that his "drink" on stage for his drunk acts was apple juice.
I only really remember him for the hilarious movies I saw him in when a kid. That, and faintly his singing from way, way, back when.
Apparently, he was a fairly devoted family man, and not a committed :Rat Pack" member, to Sinatra's annoyance.
