I can't say about whether or not AM & FM units will survive or not. I do know that I can barely listen to talk radio any more because there are too many ##@$#$%@##@@!! commercials. It's almost not worth the effort. I recently calculated that Rush actually provides commentary for about 35 minutes an hour, maybe less.

It's hard to justify spending an hour of my life to hear 35 minutes of intermittently interesting commentary. I have to listen to commercials for legal firms that help people in trouble with the IRS; commercials urging me to "BUY GOLD!" (no doubt at $1.50 to the dollar of its actual value); mattress commercials; "charitable organizations" begging for money; yada, yada, yada.

TV is every bit as bad.

It's called commercial radio as it consists of at least 50% commercials. ARGH!

I've been searching for something that not only has no commercials, but plays AOR [album-oriented rock] like they did back when we were young[er]. I.E; they'd play most of the album and you'd hear it all--for a bit, anyway.

THEN the program directors figured out which of the album's songs from the album were real hits, from the request rates, then that's ALL they would play from that album! And, they still follow that formula!

I, for a bit, thought iheart.com was good, but they also made the fatal error of repetition on a daily basis--the same core playlist every day! Who the hell wants that? NOT ME, thanks.

I'm not pimpin' anything, it's all free, took a bit of time to discover this jewel, enjoy it if it's your favorite background noise! ;) Deep Cuts Classic Rock
