Note that Lugosi plays the Monster. Sad.
Sad indeed. I read where he turned down the first Frankenstein part because there was no dialogue. Not only this movie, but he was also a silent "Bela" the gypsy in another horror film.

For anyone interested, I’d sure recommend the movie Ed Wood. The portrayal of Bela Lugosi in that is heart breaking.
Being a fan of "Plan 9" and other Grade B horror films, I thorougly enjoyed Johnny Depp's portrayal of Wood, and actually gained some respect for a guy who was often snickered at. That movie showed Wood as the only friend Lugosi had in his final years. I thought it neat that Martin Landau got an Oscar for his portrayal of Lugosi, which was creepily fascinating.
