How much for the beer-can version?

It had 2 rear axles, anyway. I saw it in Car & Driver, maybe around 1990?

I want it, but then I am a compete adolescent when it comes to powered vehicles.

In the coming Obocalpyse you’d better be larger and more powerful as to overwhelm hordes of starving angry masses, or speedy enough to elude them. I think this is the best of both worlds. BUT a reserve fuel tank is sorely needed, though, to increase range and help whisk you safely away to the hills and into sequestration.

I’d buy an SUX 6000 if they made one.

Bamboo-lined?
Knowing these gents, the version with human-skin lining will be along sooner or later.

I just had trouble wrapping my mind around the idea that I cannot aspire to buy some expensive item because some sheikh with flies up his nose might buy one first.

Something for an oil sheikh to transport eight of his wives in - four inside and four in the back bed.

No, actually - way back, Mercedes Benz was quite a bit owned by the “Palestinian Authority”. Don’t remember the details, or know if they’ve sold themselves out, but I don’t expect so.

1977 Lambo Cheetah concept, or a newer LM002. Daddy of GM’s Humvee.

Why?! When there is a Unimog?
AFAIK this one is based on Unimog technology (axles etc.). It started life as a purpose-built vehicle for the Australian army who seemed to have wanted a vehicle that can transport heavy loads and still has enough traction on loose terrain.

One can't really blame Mercedes that they realized it would make a perfect toy for Sheiks to play in the desert. Maybe Schwarzenegger will buy one, too. But he actually already has a Unimog.
