Have you finished an 80% lower? Did you buy the milling equipment or did you find someone who owned it?

You don't need a CNC mill. You need to buy (or borrow) a jig:

The rest comes from your local Home Depot. You don't even need to own the drill press (though it's handy) - there are often places where you can come and work for an hour for a small fee (or for a unit of beer.)

My understanding is that there is now law preventing anyone from manufacturing their own gun, including the lower receiver, from scratch. (No numbers needed)

***************************************************

That would be hard to enforce.

No way! There’s no way to buy them. The site is a tease!

Hmm. You're right. Sorry, I should have looked closer before linking.

This may work: http://www.impactguns.com/ar15-lowers.aspx

It appears they may have two lowers available, both over $300, though.

Out of frustration, I order a Ruger SR 556. I have had a long history with Ruger and its general nature.

Hoping for the best!

Colt Ar’s don’t play well with others. Different sized pins.

No, there isn’t, unless it’s a state law.

I got 3 emails in two days from Delton saying their lowers were available for 120.00. Sold out before I could finish the order. Slick Guns had PSA lowers for 119.00 in-stock. They sold out within 30 minutes. But things are becoming available. I’m sure I can get one for under 150.

80% lowers. Go from there.

You can of course. But I started from a 0% lower forging, and the result works just fine. My next one will have the magazine well left solid, for use with a .50 BMG upper receiver.

info *here*

if you ever want to sell your piecemeal AR

I have an M-1 Garand that I was trying to find the value of since I was thinking about selling it.

I talked to a guy who used to collect them, gave him all the markings on all the parts and stock and everything was going great until he asked about the markings on the rear barrel. When I gave him that info, he said that devalued the worth of the Garand considerably and that If I really wanted to get rid of it for the money that I should consider selling the parts individually......
