I agree, as long as the principles they believe in are backed up by the constitution, other wise they just as well leave.

Absolutely! I think Clinton was the best example of unprincipled Presidency by poll results. He wanted to be popular and give the people what they wanted. He had no principles other than self advancement.

Absolutely! I think Clinton was the best example of unprincipled Presidency by poll results.
Yeah, i think in that respect he was a true democrat and that lead people to believe all they had to do to get what they wanted was to just start whining for it.
But as you pointed out, this is a republic and it does not work quite that way.
