Gov Bob McDonnell (VA) on WMAL at 8:30am after news and traffic with Brain and Larry.
Mr. ‘No New Taxes’ McDonnell has some ‘splainin’ to do.
Someone might ask him why he is is quietly sticking a shiv in Ken Cucinelli and paving the way for a Democrat Governor. He and his toadie Bolling should just retire to Fairfax and make ads for Democrats as “moderate Republicans.” The guy is joke as is the whole VA GOP North of Fredericksburg.
It’s sad when I look back at the last three GOP Govs in VA and the only one who actually governed as a conservative was George Allen.
Ironically, McDonnell is from Virginia Beach so we figured he might be favorable, but he has repeatedly stabbed us in the back, turning our region into a ring of fire with the damned tolls while Northern Virginia continues to get free rides on our backs. Even in his planned toll of I95, the toll booth will be in Fredericksburg so everyone North of there doesn’t pay anything. Frankly, I’d rather have Kaine as governor. At least under Kaine, nothing got done, which is better than this compromise.
The good news is Cuccinelli’s opponent is Terry McAulliff so he still has a chance. Governors’ race is also an off year so the blacks won’t turn out like they do for Obama and Bobby Scott.
According to McDonnell, this doesn’t expand Medicaid per Obamacare. Remember people in NoVa will have to pay higher sales taxes to cover road cost.
Macauliffe is a weasel of the first order and will try very hard to get blacks and libs to vote “early”...it’ll be interesting to see if he can get away with it like Obozo and Kaine did.
You got that right. Kilgore would have been even better.
That’s amazing. I had no idea. It’s clear that if I’m going to fulfill my lifelong dream of living in VA, it will be important to think pretty carefully about where to go.
Kaine had a very weak opponent who had trouble putting 3 sentences together. He won (his governor’s race) because he was able to take the white suburban vote not because he turned out the blacks. Meanwhile, Mark Warner won his governor’s race by running as a conservative and by capitalizing on Jim Gilmore’s incompetence. The Virginia governor off-year election really doesn’t fair well for liberals running as liberals and McAulliffe is going to have a hard time running from his past where as Warner had no past aside from his business record, making it easy for him to claim the fiscal conservative mantle. I think it is Cuccinelli’s to lose... he needs to be very careful because the media will be out to get him, but I think he has it without any major gaffes.
Just stay away from the coast, Northern Virginia, and Richmond. I am partial to the Blue Ridge mountains, where I lived happily for many years.
Ahhhhhh, from your lips to God’s ears!
Weakness in candidates seems to be a VA GOP trait...
Got to get rid of them.
I live on the southside so it looks like I will never attend a function on the peninsula again.
Kilgore voted for the transportation bill. He is no conservative.
Chesapeake impact crater:
Head to the Northern Neck or West of the Blue Ridge.
Rappahannock? Orange? I am going to need to have a job of some kind, probably in a medical-administrative area, and my sense is that there just aren’t any jobs in the Valley.
I’m very familiar with VA north of 64; south of it, my knowledge of the areas starts to get more shaky. Advice is welcome.
